LA & Social Studies Projects Using Local History Books

Several local history books are on the Internet and provide a good source for LA and Social Studies projects. for an example of a LA project see the K-12 LA Christmas Projects & Index post. Social Studies projects are especially relevant to grades 1, 2, 4 and 7 curriculum. The Faith & Tenacity Project demonstrates what can be done with digital files from a local history book. Using the PDF and Picture files stories about pictures can be created using a simple cut and paste method. Enlarged versions of the pictures are also available to look at details and links can be made to pictures of histrical buildings to show how they have changed.  Educational projects are also been done using the Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, Hills of Hope (West of Stony Plain) and St. Albert history books.
