FACTS’ School Digital Heritage Projects

FACTS’ (Family and Community Twining Society’s) vision for SDHPs (School Digital Heritage Projects) is:

To provide support to schools, and related organizations in selecting and developing heritage resources in digital format and thereby make a tangible and memorable investment in the future.

Based on this vision and the new Alberta Social Studies curriculum, initial SDHPs (School Digital Heritage Projects) will focus on Alberta. General and grade specific project suggestions are made in the SDHPs proposal. Although initial project suggestions focus on Social Studies, Language Arts, and Information Technology; suggestions for projects in other areas such as drama, and music are also made. Invitations to Inspiritng Education (Alberta) Conversations

I would like to invite you to a very important conversation about the future of the children of this province.
Inspiring Education: A Dialogue with Albertans is an initiative launched by the province to talk to Albertans about a new vision for the future of K – 12 education. There is no agenda; there is no pre-determined outcome; there is just a sincere desire to engage all Albertans in talking about the role and importance of education to our society. The Dialogue also includes discussions on what we think are the most important attributes and qualities we want in an “educated” person twenty years from now.
This is not a traditional consultation. It is a conversation where everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate.
While the province is hosting several community conversations that you are welcome to sign up for, we think this initiative is important enough for us to hold a conversation of our own.
You may think that this conversation is not for you because you are not an expert or, perhaps, because you do not have children in school right now. However, it’s important that everyone – including people like you – participate. This process is not only about experts or teachers or parents expressing their views; it is about every Albertan having a useful and unique perspective to bring to this conversation. We all have hopes and dreams for the future, and we want to hear from you.
While our discussion will be very low-key and informal, it will contribute to the broader Inspiring Education discussions. The province will use the results of all of the conversations to create a vision of an educated Albertan and to inform the development of a policy framework that will guide education in Alberta in the future.
This is very exciting, very important and something that I hope you are as willing to support as I am.
